Full-time Community Engagement Coordinator

at Briarcliff Oaks/Clairmont Oaks in Atlanta

Briarcliff Oaks, a 125 unit Section 8 community located in Atlanta, and Clairmont Oaks, a 297 unit Affordable Housing Community in the heart of downtown Decatur, is seeking a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator to join a dedicated team that provides exceptional housing and services for the elders that call Briarcliff and Clairmont home. Candidates must be self-directed with a strong team spirit and the ability to work well with residents, families and the community.

Job Overview: The primary duty of the Community Engagement Coordinator is to coordinate activities for Briarcliff Oaks and Clairmont Oaks.
This staff person is responsible for recreational, entertainment and educational activities offered to the residents of Briarcliff and Clairmont Oaks through direct programming and/or the use of community resources.

Major Job Responsibilities:
• Develop, organize, schedule, plan, publicize, monitor and evaluate resident social and educational activities:
• Manage the Resident Abundance Pantry [Briarcliff Oaks only]
o Includes, but not limited to, ordering food, stocking pantry and coordinating volunteers.
• Manage the CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) i.e. monthly food box program at both buildings
• Recruit, train and direct volunteers – both resident and community.
• Publish monthly newsletter/calendar of events, “The Echo” [Briarcliff Oaks only]
• Be responsible for activity expenditures within assigned budget.
• Facilitate resident committees.
• Participate in Community Outreach
• Fundraising and Grant writing to enhance the Activity/ Benevolence Fund.
• Drive the building bus for events as needed. A commercial driver’s license is not needed for this vehicle.
• Collaborate with the Transportation Specialist for bus related activities.
• Foster intercommunity activities between the two buildings.

• Minimum High School Diploma. College Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
• Two or more years of experience in coordinating Activities programs for older adults or similar responsibility.
• Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to keep direct reports and staff informed of schedule at both buildings.
• Excellent organizational skills. Ability to plan and organize for two buildings
• Ability to communicate effectively in a group setting.
• Ability to work as a member of a professional team.
• Computer literacy, including social media.
• Ability to maintain a driver’s license with less than 2 moving violations or suspensions in a two year time period.
• Must be able to move or lift up to 30 pounds.
