Full-time Director of Personal Care

Job Description:
The Director of Personal Care serves as ambassador to the Personal Care Program. The Director of Personal Care is responsible for the overall administration of program and financial operations, planning, development, evaluation and improvement of program services. Works with two Personal Care Coordinators to continue to empower the residents and other personal care team members to constantly change and improve the program. The Director of Personal Care is responsible for ensuring operation of the programs that are consistent with the philosophy of personal care and in compliance with all state laws and regulations.


Essential Functions:
1. Ensure the emotional, physical, and safety needs for residents are met through all plans of care, program services and activities.
2. Perform human resource functions such as hire, train, mentor and directly manage employees; coordinates and manages professional development for team.
3. Attains and/or maintains ongoing compliance with appropriate local, state, federal, regulatory, and/or accrediting body standards.
4. Serves as a liaison to community agencies, network with community providers and seeks out new services available to the residents.
5. Strives to attain excellence in consumer suggestions, satisfaction through ongoing solicitation and measurement of consumer suggestions, interactive problem solving with residents, and program evaluation/quality assurance effort.
6. Monitors the ongoing provision of services from community agencies and keeps the case management and provider agency current with the progress of the individual. Manages the provision of supportive services where appropriate.
7. Monitors and maintains cost control in compliance with annual budget.
8. Provides ongoing support, direction, supervision, and feedback regarding job performance of all program staff, including contracted staff and volunteers. Documents evaluation of staff job performance annually. Promotes team building through participation and/or leadership at regular meetings.
9. Provides on-going support to residents and their family members regarding supportive services and alternatives, including assistance with transitions.
10. Actively plans, develops, and implements expansion and/or innovation in program services.
11. Makes an active contribution toward implementing community relations, increasing positive public regard and overall awareness of the programs.
12. Performs comprehensive case management services for residents.
13. Ensures that the program is prepared for inspection by regulatory agencies through regular auditing and updating of program policies and procedures, documentation, and other records.
14. Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
15. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
16. Expands professional development by attending educational workshops and seminars relevant to the job.
17. Participates in employment-related professional groups, including committee work.
