Full-time Assistant Activities Coordinator

Essential functions of the job:
• Implement and supervise programs and events for the Healthcare facility and the Personal Care Suites facility.
• Assist Healthcare Administrator and/or Nursing Director with the planning and production of daily programs and weekly updates of Healthcare residents.
• Complete comprehensive and quarterly assessments of each resident and participate in weekly care plan meetings.
• Ensure that each resident has received their daily mail.
• Drive the small passenger bus on outings.
• Assist with recruiting, training, and coordination of volunteers in relation to Activities.
• Establish and maintain recordkeeping for safety.
• Attend in-services and training, as required.
• Work closely with all departments.

Skills and aptitude required:
• Must have sincere interest in working with elderly and possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
• Ability to plan and assume a leadership role at recreational programs.
• Ability to comprehend memos, reports, and a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Must be flexible regarding work schedule and willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
• Must function in a confidential manner.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
• Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment.
• Must be able to drive a 14 passenger bus.

Physical requirements:
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Ability to bend, squat and kneel.
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift objects in excess of 75 pounds.
• Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.

Education and experience required:
• College degree required or equivalent combination of experience and education. Preferably in music, occupational, or recreational therapy.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in activity planning or music therapy with knowledge in federal and status regulations in a Health Care setting.
• Certification in Activities Director a plus
• Long-term acute rehab a plus
